Biography
Carolyn Currey began dancing as a little girl in her parents' living room. Finances were tight, but when Carolyn was ten, her parents were able to place her in ballet classes taught by friends of the family. In turn, she passed what she was learning on to her own siblings. Training continued as she grew older, and Carolyn realized that dance was a passion for her. Through it, she was able to worship and serve God, as well as training others. Now she has completed training with the Royal Academy of Dance including the Advanced 2 exam, which she passed with Distinction. Carolyn is also a certified teacher with the RAD, an examination and training organization that is recognized worldwide. She has been operating Daybreak Dance Studio for ten years and offers regular classes, summer camps, and workshops. Her experience includes teaching men, women and children, choreographing and directing Christian musicals, and costume and production design. She is committed to training dancers at a high artistic and technical level.
In 2007, Soli Deo Gloria Ballet was formed as Canada's first professional Christian ballet company. Carolyn is currently their main choreographer and principal dancer. She also provides professional training for the company's apprentices.
